Each year brings new adventures, fresh starts, trends to chase, and of course, the much anticipated Pantone Color of the Year. 2017 is filled with greenery + weddings are no exception. If you are looking to double dip on style, and design a wedding of the year, lush plant life + lounge style seating go hand-in-hand. Nothing is more romantic than bringing the outdoors inside and sitting cozy next to the ones you love.

Speaking of romance gentlemen, make your lady swoon this season with a perfectly fitted tux from The Black Tux. They have so many different styles (and colors!) to choose from and are always keeping up with trends to assure you look your best. I promise your honey’s heart will skip a beat when she sees the tux you are in. Want to get bold with a colored tux? Go for it. Because the best part about your greenery inspired wedding is that nature goes with everything.

Blue suede shoes, a lace dress from The Dress Theory in San Diego + one of the coolest brides ever, and that just made up one half of the duo that got married at Green Acre this past April’s Fools Day. Her groom? A tall, handsome dude with a passion for airplanes and traveling to funky places, like Iceland (YES, we totally bonded over drinks + our mutual obsession for this icy destination). I knew I was going to love these two from the second I met them.

Christy came to me with some of the raddest ideas + one of my all time favorite venues booked. Her family owns Wiens Family Cellars in Temecula (the spot my little sister said, “I do”) so they wanted to incorporate Wiens wine + beer (duh!). Since the vineyard sits next to rows + rows of orange groves, she wanted to bring in oranges in some way too at Green Acre Campus Pointe. Natalie from the Native Poppy instantly got our vision and she brought together an insane floral color palette + tiny oranges that melted my heart. It was perfect.

And the best part of all…? The ladies threw on some leather jackets + danced the night away. If only I could be half as cool. Congrats C + D!

We’ve officially been back from Iceland for a month and I still feel like I left a part of my heart there. #wanderlustproblems

I’ve taken the last few weeks to travel some more, settle back into the daily grind + think back on what was arguably one of the best trips I have EVER been on. I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a day I don’t think about those cute little horses on the side of the road, the endless singing in the car with my favorite gals and all the memories made in epic spots like The Blue Lagoon. I got to travel to Iceland with 5 girlfriends and I came back with a lifetime of memories + even closer friendships than before.

So here’s to sharing a little bit from my favorite trip, with photos by my favorite photographer, Elyse of Plum & Oak Photo. We were even lucky enough to shoot for Krochet Kids while we were there and basically became a walking billboard for Sorel’s. So yeah.

Being the planner that I am, I took all the girls wishlist spots and put together a loose itinerary. I’ll share what we did each day and the must see spots for food + drinks, because let’s be honest, food + drinks are the important things in life. So let me pour a glass of champs and get to sharing the good stuff! Enjoy friends!

Day 1:
– We touched down at 4:10am from a fun flight on WOW Air. We expected nothing from this airline and were so surprised to see the cutest stewardesses ever and greeted to a little dance of the Northern Lights as we were making our way in. Definitely recommend this flight option for a cheap way to get to Iceland.
– Picked up our rental cars from Sad Cars– they were literally just that. But Sally + Carla (as we named our cars) and all of their 300,000+ miles (each!) got us through 7 days just fine!
– Explored downtown Reykjavik + Hallgrímskirkja Church.
– Had the most amazing swiss mocha from The Laundromat Cafe. If I could just hire one of those baristas to come personally make my mocha’s each morning, I would.

Day 2:
– Viewed Strokkur Geyser, right off the main highway. I also snagged a croissant from their cafe inside and it was uhhh-mazing!
– Snorkeled the Silfra Fissure in 34 degree water! Total #bucketlist item right here! It’s located in Thingvellir National Park and is where the North American + Eurasian tectonic plates meet. In other words, #epic.
– We finished off the day with a little hike out to Bruarfoss Waterfall- the prettiest, bluest water my eyes ever did see.
– Ate at Kol– by far my favorite meal + cocktail of the trip!

Day 3:
– We explored more of the Golden Circle with stops at the impressive Gulfoss Waterfall + Kerid Crater.
– Finished off the afternoon at The Secret Lagoon in Fludir. Warm water= pure heaven!

Day 4:
Blue Lagoon– ALL DAY. Literally best part of the trip. I don’t know what I liked more, the food at their restaurant LAVA, the fact I got to lay around in silky blue water for 8 hours, or that I got to swim up and order whatever drink I wanted, whenever I wanted, or that I got serenaded by a true Icelandic man (shout out to Kowdy!) passing out algae masks. Literally everything was magic!
– Finished off the most perfect day ever with a night out in the town at the local bar, Lebowski’s! Apparently nightlife in Iceland starts at the rightful hour of 2am so we got the party started early by singing 90’s hits with some Icelandic girls on the dance floor and watched the crowds pour in late into the night. I got made fun of for ordering a mojito with gin (thanks Elyse!) so don’t do that. haha

Day 5:
– Traveled from Reykjavik to Vik and saw Seljalandfoss + Skógafoss Waterfalls along the way.
– Braved the long 2 mile walk to the DC3 plane crash at sunset. One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen!

Day 6:
– We slept in because we were, well, tired AF. After mustering up enough energy to get out of the house for the day (and with a quick stop at the grocery store because they are open strange hours like 11am-4pm) we headed to Black Sands Beach. We saw Basalt Columns and explored the mountainside + ridges + Dyrhólaey arch, reenacting Bieb’s + Dierks Bentley’s music videos… stay tuned.

Day 7:
– Traveled to Hofn (The Lobster Capital of Europe) via a stop at Fjallsárlón glacier. Highlight of the day for sure!
– Saw Jökulsálrón aka Glacier Lagoon and took in the icebergs literally floating down the water. So pretty!

IcelandPinThisIcelandPinThisIcelandPinThisIcelandPinThisIcelandPinThis

Day 8:
– Ate one more amazing meal at Sandholt Reykjavik. The pastries had me wishing I could sneak them all in my suitcase!
– Were greeted by those purple suited WOW Air stewardess and slept our 8 hour journey home!

All I have to say is… TAKE ME BACK!

Amanda + Michael make this world just a little bit cooler. It didn’t take too much to convince them to stray away from the conventional guest seating and do a laid back, lounge set up instead. Trend setting is my thing, so when they jumped at the opportunity to do something a little less traditional, I was excited AF.

It also never rains in socal, but mother nature decided to pay us a visit on this February weekend and pour on their rooftop wedding. No biggie though, The Andaz luckily had an expandable roof that came out and saved the day! The views were still gorg and the skies opened up for some great pics!

My favorite vendors came together to make this vision of open lounge seating a success! Witty Rentals provided all the rentals, and boy did they make that space look IN-SANE. The Bloom Babes killed it on the florals and Plum & Oak Photo captured all the sweet moments. The guests even got to chow down on some chicken + waffles (my personal fav!) so that basically sums up why this was one of the best nights ever.

Congrats A + M, you’re the best!

Los Angeles Wedding PlannerPinThisI am so excited to announce that Courtney Johnston has officially joined our team! She’ll be taking over the Orange County/ Los Angeles area and a few other weddings as a Lead Planner for Kelsey Rae Designs! She comes with tons of experience… and by experience, I mean getting 50+ couples down the aisle! She’s a gem + gives me a run for my money in the attention to detail + organization category… she’s basically a wedding planner rockstar/ guru/ girl boss/ babe. The most important thing for me was finding someone who values their couples as much as I do, and Courtney does just that. She believes that each wedding + couple is unique and loves creating a true bond and friendship with each person. I cannot wait for her to join the team and for all my lovely couples to meet her!

I also sat down to ask her a few super important questions + here’s what she had to say:

  1. What’s your favorite part of a wedding? I love the bride + groom’s first dance… it literally gives me chills and makes me cry every time.
  2. What’s your favorite kind of donut (the important things in life!): Sugar twist!
  3. If you were on a deserted island, what three things would you bring with you? iPhone, Mascara + a cocktail, of course! 🙂

Girlfriend, I couldn’t agree with those three anymore! Welcome to the KRD family! xo
